Stone Oak Dance Company is a Competition Team and Performance Group made up of talented students who love to dance and want to be a part of an elite group of dedicated individuals. SODA Dance Company is about motivating young minds to be the best that they can be. This special program is designed for dancers who strive to accomplish an advanced level of training. But it is not just a dance education; it’s a total education. Team dancers learn life skills through performances, attending unique workshops, working as a team and so much more.   Stone Oak Dance Academy believes that being involved in competitive dance develops positive self-esteem, confidence, accountability, and leadership in young dancers.

Auditions will be held Tuesday, May 29th and Thursday, May 31st at Stone Oak Dance Academy.  There is a $20 audition fee for all dancers due at time of registration. Audition registration must be done in advance. Dancers will begin with a ballet barre, then they will go across the floor with leaps and turns. After the technique portion of the audition we will give them a contemporary combination. The last 15-20 minutes will be specialties tap, hip-hop, and acro/tumbling. Dancers should bring all of his/her dance shoes to the audition.

If your child is accepted on the team, they will be expected to attend a set number of classes (based on Team Level) during the 8-week summer session at Stone Oak Dance Academy. You will have a 2 week pass for any planned family vacations and such. There are no make-ups for missed classes. There will be a mandatory Choreography Boot Camp the August 13-17. This is where most of the competition choreography will be taught as well as solos/duets/specialty numbers will be assigned. The Boot Camp Schedule will be available the first week of summer session.


Stone Oak Dance Academy believes that being involved in competitive dance at an early age develops positive self esteem, confidence, accountability, and leadership in young dancers. In our program, dancers have the opportunity to perform for large crowds and compete against many other teams from all over the country. Stone Oak Dance Academy always maintains a high standard of age appropriate routines and costumes for our dancers. Our goal is to encourage our dancers to do their best and improve from one competition to the next and most of all have fun. Time and time again, our philosophy has made our teams and dancers stand out above the rest. For serious students who Love to Dance and want to push themselves to excel in a positive supportive environment, Stone Oak Dance Academy offers opportunities for ages 5 and up. Participation is by Audition/Evaluation Only. All Teams attend a minimum of 2 Regional Competitions each year and 1 National Convention every other year. Individuals may choose to attend more competitions if desired. Each Team Level competes in Team Level Group Competition and the entire team of Mini’s through Seniors will also compete together as a Production Number. These teams may also be called upon to perform for various community events throughout the year. Members may also have the option of participating in Solos, Duets, and Trio numbers.

All Company Members and their parents are required to sign and adhere to a Company Contract.

Team Attendance Policy: Each Team Level must make the commitment to attend the required minimum mandatory classes and a weekly rehearsal. In order for our teams to be successful, it is important that the entire team work together as much as possible.
*If a dancer will be absent from practice, simply send us an email with the reason for absence, in advance to let us know.
*A dancer may have 4 unexcused absences from September—May. Additional missed practices must be made up with a private lesson.  Some more advanced level teams are held to a higher attendance standard.
*Excused absences
 include but are not limited to illness with a medical excuse and school events required for a grade. These should be kept to a minimum.
*A private lesson cannot replace the importance of a team practice. If a dancer has a lot of absences and does not have an acceptable knowledge of the routine, the dancer will not be able to compete in the next upcoming competition/performance. The competition/performance fee is non-refundable if the dancer is not able to perform.
*Dancers cannot miss the practice before a competition or performance. Doing so will result in her inability to compete or perform.

Estimated Team Expenses:
Additional fees include but are not limited to: Company Apparel, Competition Entry Fees, Costumes and Accessories, and Travel. Company members will have fundraising opportunities to help off-set some of these costs.
Tuition:  Most of our Competition Teams qualify for Unlimited Classes at Stone Oak Dance Academy. Your monthly tuition covers all technique classes, team rehearsals, music, and professional routine choreography. There will be additional fees for students wishing to participate in Solos/Duets/Trios.
All payments and fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. This means if you leave the program for any reason, you will not receive a refund of any fees. Fees paid may not be transferred to another class, team member, or season. We accept cash, check, or credit card. A $25 late fee will be added to payments that are more than 5 days past due. Unpaid fees may result in termination from the team or inability to compete.ur teams to be successful, it is important that we have the entire team to work with as much as possible.
